Donald Harold Kindy, 90, of Plymouth passed peacefully in his sleep January 2 at Life Care Center in Plymouth. He was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, son of the late Harold Kindy and Pearl (Walton) Kindy. He was the beloved husband of Helen (Begella) Kindy.
Don grew up in Niagara Falls and served in the Royal Canadian Navy 1947-51. After leaving the navy, he started work at the Sheraton Brock Hotel in Niagara Falls as a steam engineer, eventually becoming Chief Engineer. He moved his family to the United States in 1961 and served as Chief Engineer at several Sheraton hotels around the country.
Don was promoted to Regional Engineer and then became Director of Engineering Operations Worldwide for ITT Sheraton at the Boston headquarters. He later worked as Director of Energy & Maintenance Management for U.S. Hotel Operations at Holiday Inns Inc. in Memphis and Vice President and Director of Property Operations at Saunders Hotel Group in Boston.
Don was a prostate cancer survivor and spoke for several years as an advocate for the American Cancer Society to educate people about the warning signs and dangers of prostate cancer. He was very proud of becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen.
In addition to his wife of 64 years Helen of Plymouth, Don is survived by sons David and wife Elynor of Plymouth, Mark and his wife Lisa of Tampa, Fla., Thomas and his wife Belinda of Lakeville, and Timothy and wife Lori of Hanson, a niece, three nephews, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a brother, Norman of Tilsonburg, Ontario.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Bartlett Funeral Home. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to the American Cancer Society.

To the Kindy family, my heartfelt condolences for your loss. Please find comfort in the knowledge that God promises to put an end to all the things that have plagued mankind for centuries including pain, suffering and death (Revelation 21:3,4). May these promises from God give you comfort now and real hope for the future. My deepest sympathy.
