Obituary for William Bradford Barker

William (Bill) Barker, 56 of Plymouth, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on Sunday February 17, 2019 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA. Bill was an incredible artist, musician, horticulturist, father, and husband. As a young adult, he studied at Massachusetts College of Art and Design and graduated with a BFA in sculpture. Although his career took a different turn in later years, he never lost his passion for art. In recent years, he produced two community art pieces for the town of Plymouth, one of which he designed and created with his son, Ben. Bill also had a great passion for music. He was a talented bassist, who performed in the Greater Boston Area during his young adult years. Bill shared his love of the arts with his two children, Ben and Jessica. He exposed them to visual art, music, and theatre, and encouraged them to pursue their artistic passions, much like he pursued his own. In addition to his love of the arts, he had a love of horticulture. He had a green thumb and cared deeply for plants and the environment.
Bill will be remembered as a talented artist, musician, and horticulturist, but more importantly, he will be remembered as a gentle, loving soul, who did everything for those he loved. He will be remembered for his loyalty and dedication, his unceasing kindness, and playful sense of humor. Bill was a quiet man, but he managed to touch everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Anne, his two children Ben and Jessica, his brothers Steve and John, his extended family, and his many friends.
Funeral arrangements will be under the care of the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 21st from 4-7 pm. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Friday morning, February 22nd at 10:00 am. Friends and relatives are invited to attend. Burial will be private.
