Obituary for Walter J Anderson

Walter J. Anderson of W. Yarmouth, MA (previously of North Weymouth, MA) passed away on January 19, 2019, at the age of 92, after a long illness. He was the beloved son of the late Hulda Ericka (Carlson) and John W. Anderson, of N. Weymouth, MA, originally from Sweden. Predeceased by his lovely wife of 40 years, Dorothy (McInnes-Forrester) Anderson. Walter is survived by his daughter Majlis (Lisa) Hulda Anderson of W. Yarmouth, MA and his granddaughter Heidi (Anderson) Hause, along with his grandchildren, Jack Anderson Brown and Noah Brown. Survived by his stepchildren and spouses, Robert and Linda MacKean of Bonita Springs, FL, Roderick and Jane Forrester of Belleview, FL, Robert and Mary Forrester of Braintree, MA and predeceased by Joan Keefe, Jean Wright, and Deborah Viau. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren. Walter worked hard to complete Senior High School early in order to join the U.S Marine Corps, at the young age of 17 in January, 1944. Walter rose to the rank of Corporal and stayed in Japan after the war ended as part of the Occupation Forces from the war. He received a degree from the University of Okinawa. He was a 100% disabled Veteran from injuries he incurred during the war. Walter was a painting contractor and business man for over sixty years. He also enjoyed oil painting, especially tall ships. He was an avid fisherman and scuba diver and a huge Patriots fan. He always loved being on the water, especially with his brothers Arthur (Pal) and Harold catching flounders off Boston Light. Survived by his sisters, Ella (Anderson) and husband Warren (Hop) McKinnon, Mildred (Anderson) Grant and deceased husband Robert Grant, and brother Arthur Anderson and his wife Annette. Predeceased by his brothers J. Holger and wife Lucille, Charles and wife Jannette, Harold and wife Mildred, and Howard Anderson and his sisters, Gladys and husband Bert Eckblom, Majdis and husband Ed Flynn, Evelyn and husband Robert Tribou. He had a great friend Bill O'Neill of W. Yarmouth, MA, who helped with Walter's home care in Walter's later years. There will be a Memorial Service at Pilgrim Congregational Church, Athens Street, North Weymouth 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 12th. Burial will follow at Old North Cemetery, 126 Norton Street, North Weymouth, MA, after the Memorial Service.
