Obituary for John Walker

Walker, John, 83, of Plymouth, passed away at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston surrounded by his family, on January 19, 2019. He was born in Norwood, the son of the late Rose (Gallagher) and William Walker.

John graduated from Norwood High School. After graduating, he joined the US Navy. When he returned home from the Navy, he got a job with AT&T, where he worked for 32 years. After retiring, John enjoyed many things, including; golf, clambakes, boating, spending time with his grandchildren, traveling and his clubs. John was a proud member of many clubs; the American Legion, Post 40, where he bartended twice a week for over 20 years, the Cold Spring Club, the Elks Club, the Cristoforo Columbo Club, the Seaside Club, the VFW and the Unity Club.

John is survived by his wife of 37 years, Anita. He also leaves behind his children, Katherine Mikshenas and her husband, Jim, Marie Doyle and her husband, Tom, Chris Walker, Jennifer Mearls and her husband, Mike, and William Walker and his wife, Elizabeth. He was the proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is survived by his brother, Thomas Walker. He was preceded in death by his brothers James and William. He leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Funeral arrangements will be under the care of the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, January 23rd from 10 am -12 pm. A funeral mass will be at St. Mary's Church at 1:00 pm at St. Mary's Church, 313 Court Street, Plymouth. Interment will be private.
