Harold (Harry) Walker
On the morning of January 22, 2019 Harry, at the age of
93, peacefully passed away in West Yarmouth,
Massachusetts. Harry was born in Bishop Auckland,
England in 1925 to George and Susannah Walker and
grew up in York, England. At the age of 12, he was
awarded an academic scholarship to St. Olave’s and St.
Peter’s schools. The day after his 18th birthday he joined
the British Royal Navy and earned the rank of Chief Petty
Officer. Harry traveled extensively throughout his naval
career and while stationed in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia,
training as a Telegrapher Air Gunner, he traveled to
Rhode Island where he met his first wife, Elizabeth Dixon.
Harry and Elizabeth settled in Attleboro, Massachusetts
where they raised their 3 children, Deborra, Diane and
Douglas. Harry worked for a number of years in sales
and marketing at Texas Instruments. Harry and Elizabeth
divorced, and later in life he met his current wife, Anne
Middleton. Soon after they married, Harry and Anne
moved to Yarmouthport and later South Yarmouth
where Harry spent many happy years gardening as a
Master Gardener. Harry will be remembered by many
for his sense of humor.
Harry will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by
his wife Anne, his children Deborra (Marc)Howard, Diane
(Don)Potter, Douglas Walker and grandson Andrew
Harry’s ashes will be scattered at a later date into the
ocean waters on an outgoing tide bound for England. In
