George Almeida, 97, of Plymouth, passed away at BIDH on December 13th, 2018. George was born on July 4th, 1921 in Kingston and grew up in Plymouth. He is the son of the late Mary (Sousa) and Louis Almeida. George attended Plymouth schools. He served in the Navy during WWII, after returning home he worked at the Cordage Co., and later worked as a laborer until his retirement from the Power Plant. He continued to work as a security guard at Wood Ventures and the Marina well into his 80s. Besides working he enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, watching Westerns, and riding his favorite horse Kalila.
George was the devoted husband of Enis Mary (Breveglieri) for 66 years. Loving father to daughter Jo Ann (Almeida) Correa and her husband Phillip, of Plymouth and son Michael D. Almeida of Spring Hill, FL. Preceded in death by daughter-in-law Joyce Almeida. Beloved grandfather of Phillip Correa and his wife Jennifer of Carver, Jon Correa and his wife Kristen of Plymouth, Erin Kelley and her husband Francis of Plymouth, Michael J. Almeida and his wife Michelle, Courtney and Joshua Almeida, all of Spring Hill, FL. He was much loved by his great-grandchildren Hannah, Olivia, Braeden, Nathan, Bryce, Joseph, Ashlynn, Michael, and Anthony. He is survived by his brother Louis Almeida Jr. of Plymouth. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements will be under the care of the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 20th from 5-8 pm and Memorial Service on Friday, December 21st at 10 am. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in George's name to Black Feather Horse Rescue, P.O. Box 3145, Plymouth, MA 02361.
